Peru has taken my breath away so many times… I wish I had more time to tell all the stories and I hope I will have it in the future so they are not forgotten…
I wanted to travel immediately after coming home from Afghanistan and I think it was the best choice I could have made… Afted going through so much frustration from how thinkgs do not work I found myself in a country – definitely nor rich nor extraordinary developed – where all things that were impossible in Afghanistan simply work because its people want it and do the best they can to sustain their communities, maintain their water resources and live in a harmony with nature… noone here is extending his hand for money from foreign donors. Pride of their history and predecesors keep them going and fighting the little battles of everyday life. I know Afghanistan had more complidated history of intensive fighting and war and that has taken its toll on mind set of the people… but it is hard to accept that now they are mroe thatn broken..not willing to sustain things that are key for their own survival such as water resources….
I wonder what makes people in one country willing to help themselves and in other they rather die or live in unlivable conditions…
I wish I knew the answer and could learn how to overcome this, so the very motivation to live and prosper would come back to minds of people of Afghanistan…at least half of what people here have….
